vaccum?

I know that vaccum on the 7M is usually around 20 in.hg. But over the past few months when I start my car up and it is cold I get a reading of 17.5-18, but after she warms up its about 19.5-20.5. I don't have any leaks. Motor has close to 160k on it. I'm also thinking that it might be my boost gauge, its like a 40 dollar AutoMeter. That actually did not read any boost for the first week it was installed, but as I drove and boosted I guess it "broke in". Any thoughts?

I have 163k on mine and it seems very similar to yours with the same meter. Mine worked correctly out of the box though... I can hit -22 *vacuum on deceleration at speeds.

Yea, on decel it reads about 22-23 depending on RPM. I'm really close to buying a Greddy gauge, theres a dealer that is offering them in PSI for 140 on Ebay.

The cheaper product lines of Autometer are notoriously inaccurate. If you're worried about engine health do a compression test. Typically vacuum is dependent on engine health, but even a small leak can change the reading you get. There are other factors that come into play though, that's why a compression test or leak down test are a better diagnosis. Mileage isn't too much of a factor on most Toyotas, 7m included. I've seen 7m's with almost 200k miles and perfect compression, it just depends on how well the motor was treated.

edit: and I highly recommend GReddy gauges :) They aren't cheap but worth every penny.

Thank you Bishop, your input is much appreciated. A compression test is in order, I was thinking along the same lines. I have a tester but the end that goes into the plug hole isn't long enough for the gauge to clear the valve covers, I need one with a hose type deal on it.
