Using the 1jz throttle cable.

Well, i wired up the throttle cable last night, but it didnt seem to work the best. It has a bunch of slack in it. Does anyone know what is suggested to smooth out the throttle cable? It was working pretty perfectly on the donor car.

People have told me to use the stock one, and i am a bit too late to be able to use another one. I am moving 3 days with this car. I know a lot of people are using this cable, my donor car was, so how does it work?

Wow, drift motion says it is several feet too long, mine is just about 2" too long, so this must not be a 1jz throttle cable. It might be a used MKIV one, it is literally like 1-2" too long. anyone have any ideas.

Sounds like a 2J.

I remember reading one from another Toyota that bolts right in. I think it was a Camry, not sure which one.

Ok, so back to my question, how do i cure the slack? I cant adjust the bolts anymore, it is about an inch too long.

idk, id say get a new one, or try to manuver it somewhere where it makes it tighter.

ive got a cruise control unit from a chaser 1jz you might be able to change stuff out to work on the stock mkiii unit, i have no idea

Im using a 2jz throttle cable and to tighten up the slack I had to move the bracket on the intake plenum back one bolt and it works just fine

If you want a quick fix... There are ends that they make to go on throttle cables. You just slide the cable through and use a set screw to hold the end in place. Then it would be your perfect length.

I don't know where to buy them though... we usually have some laying around.

I did the same for my 1.5jz
