I was driving my supra the other day and the power steering suddenly stopped working. There was no clunking or noise it just suddenly stopped but I was still able to drive it using armstrong steering. My thoughts were that it is probably either the power steering pump or the rack and pinion steering but I'm not that mecnically inclined so I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or has any insight. Also if anyone knows of a place around Chilliwack BC or the Lower Mainland that I could find either of these parts as I know the rack and pinion will be different being that it is right hand drive. Does anyoen know if the power steering pumps are the same on the 1JZ as they are on the 7M motors?

Check your Fuses, Also check to see if the power To the Rack is attached.

I am not sure what it could be, Look for someone who recently purchased a clip they will probably have a RHD Rack for you.

Wish i could help more

They'll whine usually @ 1st, try adding fluid especially if you see none in your reservoir.. if you dont see the fluid spinning about in when shes full try givin her SOME (meaning not much) gas and some left/right turnage.. fluid spinnage? add more till shes level and @ the proper level.. still not better? maybe a seized pump.. ive had a pump on my 1j already.. I dunno if my rack is bad or what.. but the ps pump is a exact fit for the usdm 2jz-ge that resides in several us lexus models. AutoZone carries the reman.. or you can just buy a rebuild kit for cheaper also from AutoZone. Either way any one you get will be reman with or without a new reservoir which you may be if you cant clean the screen in the bottom of your existing reservoir.. I dont suggest the lexus dealer to source this part (you will pay out the rear). No AutoZone in chilliwak? Try where ever you can.. just get the 2jz-ge ps pump with or without the reservoir.. or just simply buy the rebuild kit and throw her together (if you can figure out how).

Oh btw it takes ATFluid. Toyota Fluid Recommended, but not required.

No screeching at all and the Power steering fluid is full and all the fuses look good in both fuse panels (under the hood and next to gas pedal) so I guess the next step is the power steering pump. and no JCP we don't have AutoZone in chilliwack but we have Lordco Auto parts and a few like it. anyways thanks for the advice and let me know anything more if you think of anything.
