my turbo burns oil, spools fast and pulls hard, but it burns oil. so instead of having to check the oil everytime i start the car (this motor has been rebuilt...) id like to have my turbo rebuilt. while its being rebuilt, id like to upgrade it to a 57 trim wheel.

now, i have 550cc injectors, an aeromotive FPR and a walbro 255 fuel pump. i PLAN on going with the MAFT+WB set up very soon, possibly by the summer.

now, i only have the money for one or the other right now. would i be safe running the 57 trim ct26 without any tuning? or am i risking leaning out underboost and ruining my motor (motor #3 by the way...)?

or, should i just wait and get everything at once?

i would like to get the turbo upgraded/rebuilt now because if mine is burning this much oil now, i suppose it could let go very soon.

what are all your thoughts.

Fuel cut should save your hiney if you still have it enabled / haven't tuned it out...

Just got my rebuilt 57 trim installed on my stock motor with just exhaust, bosch bypass, and boost controller along with a new hg and arps. No problems other than hitting fuel cut.

right now using the lexus afm. i have no tuning devices and am currently running 10 pounds of boost which creeps to 15 (shimmed waste gate). everything is already installed.

that what i figure too, i suppose after i installed the upgraded CT i could go to the dyno just to see where i am at, and get see what the AF ratios are.

I had my turbo done at Performance Techniques for $475 with the SF discount, they took kind of long so they gave me free return shipping.

In my opinion, you should do the turbo after getting your MAFTPro w/ WB. Maybe I'm too precautious, but to me, protection always comes before power.

It is only about $100 more on top of the rebuild to get it upgraded, only makes sense to do it at the same time.

i will be getting the maftpro+wideband controller its just i can only afford either one or the other at this time. if i can be safe with the upgraded turbo i will be doing that first, not to have fun with a bigger turbo, but because this one is on its way out. preventitive maintanence! :) thanks for everyones opinion.

I missed the part about your current turbo being on the brink of failure. Get the upgrade then, just be careful.

yeah id leave the wastegate un shimmed. id probably go for a run on the dyno to see where the AFs are at.

dyno + upgraded CT + MAFT Pro = FTW!
currently what im attempting to shoot for here..

60-1 on stock injectors running 6-10lbs fuel cut hurts :(

if you have a boost reference AFPR, then you shouldnt lean out... *shouldnt* lean out...

that being said, i've got the following on my car:
AFPR (boost reference)
wallypump
new lines
ss braided feed/return line, FPD removed
lex afm
550's
new filter

i have the AFPR vacuum line hooked up, so i get increased fuel pressure when i hit the throttle. i'll soon (spring/summer) be upgrading to a 60 or 60-1 unclipped, BB (mdc) turbo. :)

then comes the maft+WB setup, and i'm golden. :) goal is about 400-420rwhp.

currently, on my stock turbo, i'm running 15psi, and it pulls hard. but i need it to pull harder. :)

60-1 turbo' is a beast, ive got a minor exhaust leak and i dont spool till 3.5-4k for some reason :( but when it kicks in up until 5k(fuel cut :() its a hellufa ride
