I just bought a lexus afm, 550 injectors and a walbro 255 fuel pump. My question is this. Do I need to upgrade my fuel pressure regulator? I've heard that some people upgrade them and then turn them all the way down. I don't want to buy it for nothing. If I need it then I will buy it. Some of you geniuses please post on here with some pros and cons. Thanks alot.

if your going to upgrade the feul system u might as well get the FPR (areo is one of the best) at least you have a gauge and plus its adjustable...
id so get it cuz youll end up upgrading the stock fpr ne ways...... theres a kit for the areo with a full kit for like 300 or less....

search through the site about the mods for the Lexus afm theres a lot in this site......its controversial....
good luck!!

i have the lex/550s only with a walbro and afpr waiting to go on.

heres the catch, if your not going to tune or anything and are just going torun slightly higher boost (shrug)

if you are going to tune and go for higher hp (400+) get one, youll need it

You won't "need it". There is no need to adjust the FP if you have an SAFC, AFR, or another means of changing duty cycle. Changing the FP to tune isn't the right way to do it, it will effect idle and part throttle too.

if you notice he says nothing about safc or anything else. with the walbro lex 550s and all i have seen alot of guys drop a few pounds off the stock FP to get a better idle and highway cruise as they were way too pig rich. with just the walbro, 550s and the lex what would he do to lean things out over the whole band?

Sorry guys, but what is an afr? I do have a safcii. That's what I tune it with when it's on the dyno.

I'm wondering about this too... are you talking about something like the HKS AFR? (Air Fuel Ratio Regulator)

Another question: Can the stock FPR properly regulate the fuel pressure when a higher volume pump like the MKIV or Walbro 255 is used?
