Hey guys, I ordered this Coolant overflow bottle from horsepowerfreaks, because I needed a smaller tank due to my FFI and FF intercooler project. The nozzle where the coolant line goes in from the radiator just goes in the tank on top and does NOT continue towards the bottom of the Can like the Stock Tank does. I understand the cooling system sucks back coolant (like a vacuum) when the engine is cold. Do I need to somehow modify it or is it designed to still work eventhough the tube does not reach the bottom at all?

Thanks

I'd say there is a tube inside the tank that goes all the way to the bottom.

Do you mean there should be a tube inside? because I already checked and theres none which is why I'm asking. I saw that 1J had a similar catch can and had modified the Tanks' cap to act like the oem tank, I hope he will find this thread and elaborate a little on what he did.

if he dont find this thread, pm him and ask him too look into it. he's a good guy and if you aks him really nicely, he will give his insight.

but, i would think there is a tube in there. there has to be somthing there to suck coolant back into the system.

and it's IJ not 1j.

Mine has an internal tube to the bottom and works as stock!

Only problem with these is they're borderline for capacity if you run the car hard!

When cold I can only have an inch to an inch and a half of coolant in the can or it runs out of room and overflows when hot!

Thanks IJ (Got it right this time) Did you modify your cap? or did it come like that? I guess I owe Home depot a visit, I'll drill a hole in the cap with fittings and will add a tube aiming for as close to the bottom as possible.

TG: Yes I drilled and tapped it for an overflow so it doesn't puke all over the hood!

Stock it had a small vent hole!
(I run one of these as a header tank on my PC's watercooling and as it doesn't get that hot it's not a problem but as I said earlier in the car capacity is marginal)

From that pic it looks as if there is a threaded plug on the bottom of the tank, take that plug off and find a barb fitting that will thread in, problem solved ;)

I run two of these type of tanks, one for coolant the other for PS fluid. The one for PS fluid I had to do what I stated above.
