As nice as it would be to have one, I believe it would be even worse having one due to having to always take it off, nice none the less though.

Why would you want to take off the engine cover underneath? Its required to have that engine cover underneath so that it protects gravel, dirt and such from damaging your engine. Toyota put that engine cover on our cars for a reason.

Agreed. Why would it always be coming off anyway? I can't remember the last time I took mine off and even when I do an air ratchet or power driver makes it a non-event.
oil change or proper coolant flush. ;)

i had 2 perfectly good under covers on both my supras...... they both went strait to the TRASH, regardless of what you say if you ever do ANY work under the car they are a total pain in the ass. and how many rocks actually kick up under your engine? your front tires sure dont claim the task, and i dont see how a pebble is going to miss the front of your car but manage its way up from the bottom........

just my opinion, but i let you know that i do 130-150 mph about every other weekend on the empty freeways traveling to my parents house and have never even really had a rock hit my FMIC..... just dont tailgait

Hey, whatever floats your boat. I rarely have any need to work under the car so I leave it on. No one has pointed out what it's really there for and that's airflow and cooling. If you think it doesn't do anything in that regard you haven't measured things. As the guy said, Toyota put it there for a reason. It's your car though. Happy motoring ;)

true on all acounts...... and again its just my opinion that its worthless, i have also however seen many times undercovers falling off cars on the freeway, and as a former jiffy lube employee, it is safe to say that that lube shops such as jiffy lube cause 95% off this problem,

but the small aerodynamic difference does not matter until about 150 mph... and would not be a concern from me until about 180, which should scare the living hell out of anyone! especially in a MKIII.

Don't get me started on Iffy Lube. Btw, my opinion is if you're routinely doing 130-150 mph on any road the public has access to, empty or not, I sincerely hope they take away your license. Be nice if they put your ass in jail for a while too. Again, happy motoring ;)

oh now dont be a hater....... whats the point of having a fast car if you dont use it, and i dont speed when there are other cars around it just so happens that i travel on a freeway where everyone is already doing 90-95 and when empty the temptation is too great;)

BTW: i am due in court on thursday for speeding and reckless driving, angry residents and 3 cops with nothing better to do... but that is another story.

true, i guess its just all a matter of preferance, on my N/A it was trashed because it constantly sprung leaks and with the cover on it is that much harder to pinpoint them...... to every man his own i guess.

i bet it helps a lot with cooling. i'm missing all my shrouds and i with i had them. i actually might talk to my dad about bidding on that sucker...

i do not see anything that could do much damage to the underside of the engine bay coming from the car itself. i can see it helping with debris from another car that you cannot avoid though, especially on a trubo car.

plus, at high speeds i can also imagine that the shroud would help a lot to keep air going where its supposed to. if you let it dive under the car at the first chance it gets, it will, and then the rest of the engine bay misses out.... heats up...blah blah blah.

its not catastrophic, but its something to notice.

I think I'm going to try and win this auction ;). I never had, nor seen an undertray until just now and I'd like to get it to see if I can make a sheet metal replica of it for my own car. If the task isn't too hard, I may look into making some addtional ones to sell on Group buys every now and then ;). What do you guys think? If I get it, I'm definitely making an aluminum version for myself that way it won't break like the originals do.

it would be even more nice to have it replicated from fiberglass or aluminum ;)
Right now I'm looking for one to give to my machinist to replicate from aluminum, maybe later on I'll start a group buy for that ;)

LOL. Couldn't agree more.

Boostadikt: While your endangering lives using your "fast car" for what you bought it for.. keep in mind... my fathers mini van will go that fast, and if you think that your thursday appointment is "another story". Then it won't be long before Jetjock gets his wish. Happy Motoring!:)
