Turbosmart BOV

Hey there, im brand new to supras, I just had mine for less than a week, 1990 turbo black. Im pretty excited about the car, its an awesome machine. Ive been looking for ways to make the turbo spool a little quicker and I was wondering what type of BOV i should get. I will probably soon be running a K&N FIPK with some sort of turbo back exhaust (need help picking that out too! any suggestions?). I went to their site and they have a bunch of different types of BOVs and I was wondering if they are good and if so what type i should get. I want something loud that will hold some decent boost pressure. thanks a lot in advance.

what kind of condition is your motor in... I'd say do a stock toyota rebuild before anything... get a sturdy platform...

I'd look into a Metal headgasket and some ARP's before adding horsepower. Just as a precaution. I know you just want to make it fast but if you read around, you'll see a trend: Even stockers tend to blow the headgasket sooner or later. But in light of a BOV, everyone has their taste.. Im not sure what you mean about holding boost pressure, if you mean one that will withstand high boost, you should be fine with most brand name blowoff valves on the stock turbo. Im running a Greddy Type-Rs and i'm kinda regretting getting it. I love the sound of a good bov and mine is relateively quiet. kind of a pshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It has a bigger outlet than the Type-S my friend is running which is louder and has a whistle to it ( i want to trade for a type S if anyone is interested.. not to jack the thread) As far as a turbo back i'd look into a downpipe with a built in elbow or a LIPP high flow elbow from suprasport.com. Theres plenty of exhausts to choose from. All just my opinion here, Theres more than enough info on this forum for any one man so search around!! Hope i helped

there is 1 headgasket on your 7m. Its an inline 6 so theres only one head. Check out Horsepowerfreaks.com, Suprasport.com, The vender section of this forum etc.. I hear good things about the Cometic headgasket+ARP headstud combo, But i havent doin my head job yet ( coming in spring!) so dont take my word for it, Theres plenty of rebuild threads around.

P.S. A clean engine tells you nothing about its internal state. I could beat the balls off my car and make it look pretty for a sale.

That should do you to start with. Stay away from Ebay in the begining TRUST ME. Learn about the parts and services you need elsewhere so you don't eat a chunk of your budget...........sigh.......trust me

I warn against using the base Turbo Smart BOV's. I've had one on my car since I started modding and all I've had is trouble... My suggestion for BOV would be HKS or Greddy type-s, which seem to get the most positive feedback.
