Turbo Whine

Is this death whine from the turbo? I have never had a turbo go bad on me yet. I am 99% sure it's a bad turbo strictly from the smoke on deceleration when I come to a stop and every so often at idle. Just curious if this is the whine people talk about?

Sorry, I know its kinda hard to hear...

EDIT: I forgot to add I did check for shaft play and it had no "in and out" and at a maximum 2mm of "side to side" play. Again my question was whether or not this was turbo whine people talk about. As I am certain the turbo is toast.

Is it smoking at idle? Also, check the shaft play in and out and side to side. check intercooler piping for oil and check downpipe for oil. Sounds like whine to me

At first it sounded like you have a boost leak, but your afr's would go fat it that was the case. Unless of course you're running speed density. If you're not, I'm gonna lean toward turbo whine. Are you building any boost? Your afr's stay right at 13.8 when you get into boost.

The smoke usually happends when I am coming to a stop, then I'm covered in a huge smoke cloud then it goes away.

2mm of side play sounds like quite a bit. Is it rubbing on the housing?

Yeah it's more than I'm comfortable with, its just enough movement not to hit the housing. I see a 57 Trim in my future, how do you like yours? Does it spool as fast as a stock CT?

AFR are normal, 14.7 idle and cruise, 12 partial throttle with little boost, and 10 at WOT. I am running stock electronics with no piggybacks. It builds good boost and pulls hard. And the 13.8 is my voltage!

The 57 isn't as fast as stock because it does have a bigger and heavier wheel. When the 57 comes on though, it's all grins. My 57 and 3" driftmotion downpipe will be going up for sale soon as I'm almost done piecing my hx35 kit together.

Yeah not quite as fast as the CT but it still spool super fast, iirc I would have full boost(15 psi) at like 2800 rpms or something like that lol.

mine was around that as well, depending on the gear it was as low as 2500
