OK, I am new to reading compressor maps, CFM flow rates etc etc. But I have read a lot and I think I know what turbo size I want. I am looking for advice from those with more experience. Here's the setup....

2JZ-GE-T
Static compression around 8.8 -9.0 with thicker H/G
Goal of 400whp at 16-18psi on 93 pump
Goal of 500whp at 22-24psi on higher octane

I am building for no more than 500whp, ie fuel, drivetrain etc, and I have no interest in a dyno queen. I want street driveability. 400whp is where it will be 98% of the time, I want room to go towards 500 if I occasionally want to:evil2:

I think around a 61mm .70A/R coldside will get me where I want, P-trim .7x or .8x hotside A/R... yes????

This combo looks good on 2JZ dyno graphs I have seen.......

Any smaller and boost levels get too high for my comp ratio...

Any bigger and I think I will be too laggy for my liking......

Ideas..input....Am I close or did I just read all those compressor maps wrong:aigo:

400whp/500whp or 4xxwhp/5xxwhp

if 400/500 a 60-1 turbo would work and spool quickly.

If 4xx/5xx a 61 would work good.

You're not looking for big power, so .58 or .68 housing is fine..

For those goals, I would go with a smaller turbine wheel instead of the P-trim. If you can afford a GT35R, I would go with that.

Yeah Tissimo I shoulda said 400ish and 500ish LOL...

I am looking for good real estate under the curve. This is a fun weekend street car for me, with an occasional 1/4 mile so the least lag without choking at 7000rpm. I would like good spool in the 3000-3500rpm range at the latest.

My fuel setup is walbro/550's so 500 or close to it will be max and like I said the 400's is where I want to be daily....

MRSUPRA,

There are so many damn turbo options out there, I am just trying to narrow down what size ranges I need to be looking at. Then once I figure that out I will be shopping for specific makes/models. That GT35 looks nice, but I think there are more cost effective choices.

JT62 in a T04 footprint, it's inexpensive, and gets the job done.

61.5mm 62-1 T04, with a P-trim exhause wheel, and choose your
exhaust housing .68, .81, etc. $725 shipped, polished, etc.

I don't see why can't put some hybrids on the car like Stu Hagen (He has 530WHP) and have meth kit installed?
Just a thought.:icon_bigg

Another thing to consider is keeping the stock ex manifold and using an T4 adapter. That will help a lot in the spool department at a little cost in topend. But seriously, I would not go with a Ptrim turbine wheel unless you going for all out power (which it sounds like your not). 61mm with o-trim turbine(SP58) using the stock manifold would be a nice combo.

PT52 Capable of 520rwhp - hits full boost at 3800rpm used on the Boostwerx N/A-T kits, or 600rwhp with full boost around 4800rpm's if going with a PT61

hey thats us! did we sell you a kit?

also, the pt turbos are available w/ a t350 turbine wheel. its a little bigger than an O, but smaller than a P. its a good compromise of spool vs power.

use a PTE/SP/BL 61mm, 0.58AR exhaust housing w/ the biggest turbine wheel you can fit in there. should spool in the mid/low 3000's and be capable of high 400's easily at 23-25psi with a pump-race mix. pump gas alone and 18psi you should get low 400's with no problem whatsoever. i put together an Auto MKIV w/ that setup, but 0.68 AR hotside, stock fuel, tuned w/ the Map-ECU. oh and this was w/ an Unlocked 3800 PI stall converter and a Boostlogic built tranny. you may see higher numbers. a 61mm is a killer street turbo

pretty sure the biggest you can get is a p trim. i dont think you can squeeze q trim in there. i looked and dont have it listed as an option. but i think a q would be too big for a 61 anyway. best bet is the p i think.

Thanks guys, great info...

Someone wanna explain to me the benefit of O trim to P trim. I can see from the spec sheets the the O is a smaller exducer. Sooo... this would mean quicker spool but less top end flow or am I way off...

just as jeff said, that correct. thats why i recommended the t350 wheel. its a compromise between the o and p. better spool than p, but not as good as o. loses a little top end, but not as bad as o.

Ideal 450-550rwhp turbo in my opinion is the 62-1, compressor P-trim
exhuast and a .68 rear housing. Good mix of quick street spool and
fantastic power, and a solid 500rwhp performer. The JT62 is that in a
bolt on for the MKIII, but I also can get it in a standard T04 footprint.
no need to spend the extra cash on a more expensive turbo. $725
shipped to your door.

Im going to be aiming at those goals as well, only on a 1jz with a 61mm. race gas will be my friend, good thing ill be making my own mix in my tank, there are threads on here about it. a bit of toluene and some ATF + 93 gas.
