currently doing a 88 turbo swap into an 89 non-turbo and once i had the engine and tranny in i found out that the non-turbo didnt have the plug for the turbo sensor (obviously) so i was wondering if anyone would knoe if i need the plug in order for my aftermarket boost guage to work, if i do then can anyone help me with the wirings without changing the whole interior harness. thanks

I swapped an 88 7mgte into an 88na. You don't need the turbo pressure sensor hooked up. AFAIK, it's just for the oem gauge, because I've never had any problems not using the sensor. If you hook up an aftermarket gauge, you can choose either an electrical, which comes with it's own sensor, or a mechanical, which only needs to connect to the intake manifold by the supplied tubing.

Exactly. The turbo pressure sensor just works the stock gauge. Sincce I put in a mechanical boost gauge when I swapped a 7M-GTE into my '89NA, I didnt' connect the sensor.

Actually, I think it sends the signal THROUGH the ECU. I know the ECU doesn't use it, but I'm pretty sure the wire from the engine bay goes into one plug on the ECU and the wire from the gauge goes into the ECU on another plug.

If that were the case, then wouldn't the ECU wiring harness have the plug for the sensor, which it does not.

Now there is, of course the chassis wiring harness that connects to the ECU for things like the instrument panel, but is the turbo pressure sensor on that link?
