Also, when boosting hard, the impeller wheel of the turbo actually pulls the entire turbine shaft towards the front of the turbo, sealing the exhaust piston ring seal.
Essentially, if it's the exhaust seal leaking, the turbo should blow smoke on decel, and it should be blue to black depending on how bad it's leaking.
If the compressor seal is leaking, then it's best to pull the addordian pipe and lower ic pipe and check for oil. If they're both dry, then it could just be your rings burning oil.
If it's white then your looking at a headgasket issue. I'd recommend a compression and leakdown test to verify the condition of the motor if there isn't oil is your IC pipes.
Also I've looked into shipping a headliner, and it would be very pricy to ensure it got to arizona in one, unharmed and very large piece.

well i just took her out for a drive and its definatly blue smoke comin out. so must be oil. and yes i did only notice it on decel. so i guess i know what i have to fix.

Mines doing the same thing, Happens if I boost hard or if I downshift to slow down it does it horribly. Ive still got the original exhaust side seal and its the only original piece in it. im looking into getting a new one. $8 bucks from MDC.

blue smoke on decel could also be faulty valve seals. while you're at it do a compression test as well. you don't just want to replace the turbo and still have the smokey problem. rule the simple stuff out first.

When you replace a seal on the turbo, does it have to be rebalanced and everything or is it just an unbolt and bolt back up thing?? I have some pretty blue smoke as well and I'm thinking (and people have told me) that it could be a bad turbo seal.
