The downpipe bolts are run in from the bottom of the car, so the turbo is still attatched to it.. i cant slide the turbo off of the downpipe or off of the exhuast manifold.. how will i get the head off if i cannot get the turbo disconnected from either or?

Sorry for my dumbass posts.. my apologies..

thank you all very much!

You mean the TURBO ELBOW[the piece that has the oxygen sensor] is still attached to the exhaust housing on the turbo? You have to remove those 4 nuts to separate the turbo from the elbow. Then go under the car with a ratchet with a few extensions and a thinwall 12mm deep socket. Now remove the 2 nuts that hold the oil return line in place. [The silver line that looks like an accordian] After you remove those 2 nuts, you can lift the head out of the car with the manifold and turbo still attached.

This is what I did when I did my HG. It was fairly easy.

if you disconnect the 3 bolts holding the downpipe to the turbo elbow than you can disconnect the elbow and than take the turbo off.

Not much. Just prepare for oil and coolant to come out. Put some towels on the floor and have a few rags handy. It may be a good idea to plug any ports that are open also. This is just to make sure nothing crawls inside. That last thing you would want is to start your car up and then have a waterbug being circulated inside your motor. :nono: Good luck!
