turbo failure???

how can you tell if your turbo is taking the pooper. Cause i'm not sure if it's my motor or if it's my turbo, but after WOT and full boost my car sometimes, not all the time puffs out some whitish/bluish smoke. Under regular driving with some boost but not WOT the car doesn't smoke at all. The coolant level is pretty much the same level too.

you can check for shaft play by taking off the acordian hose and trying to wiggle the compressor. the compressor should also turn freely without sticking. if you are burinig oil from the rear oil seal you can pull off the elbow and check for carbon built up on the turbine blades. when you boost WOT do you hear the "death wine"? a loud screeching sound? and while your at it you could also do a compression test.
