ok, latley, ive been having a issue with coolant loss. already checked for a bhg with a block test and compression test. passed all test.

so, now im thinking its a hose or connection. im in the process of changing them all. so heres where the really odd question comes into play.

i have thought about blocking off the coolant lines to and from the turbo, or at least finding a diffrent way to cool it. im still on a ct-26. i dont plan to make the block off perminant, because its my only car. but i also dont have the funds to replace the turbo at the moment. (working on saving up for another engine to rebuild and then transplant.)

i know, sounds like a stupid idea, but im trying to do this as a way to see if maybe theres a crack or leak in the system. i cant pressure test till maybe monday or tuesday while im at work.

The turbo is almost impossible as a source of coolant consumption.

To block off the turbo, simply remove the tube plate, and then route the hose from the thermostat housing down to the lower housing like an N/A.

If you turbo time or let the car idle down, you should be ok.

You need to do a pressure test to see if you have indeed a BHG.

thanks mdc, i am in the works of pressure testing come mon or tue. (crosses fingers)

would blocking off the coolant lines be a bad thing though? im used to sbc v-8's and kinda new to turbos.

No. The water coolant lines are there only for "every day drivers" who don't idle after driving to cool the turbo.

and thats where im not your average every day driver!!! i always idle down after driving. at leats 5 min. turbo timer on the way soon!!

im probably stretching the severity of the issue, but, im trying every possiable option first.

and yes, im very bad at spelling.
