to be honest you mean if the car was NOT turbo from the beggining then made into a turbo? i think the block and head are the same the only diffrence are the pistons, cams, injectors, etc etc . but to tell from the naked eye i dont think you can . also if the car has the OEM cluster you can look for the boost gaue.....

Yeah!!! look for the Turbo on the left side of the motor lol and in the inside look for the boost gauge in the cluster.... 2Xlol

Your pic looks like it has a Turbo A bumper duct...does the interior have Recardo front seats? It will say so on the front of the seat and the drivers seat is not powered.

My car is a Turbo car from the factory and it has 6 or 8 way adjustable seats. The drivers seat is power (I think it is a Toyota seat)

According to Wikpedia "A special version of the 1JZ-GTE equipped JZA70, the 2.5 Twin Turbo R, had black/grey Recaro seats." but it does not refer to the Turbo A car having Recaro seats.

You know what...I think you're right about the seats being in the Turbo R. I thought they were also in the Turbo A...could be wrong though.

The Turbo A did have a 65mm ID throttle body...that I'm sure of ;)

"The Turbo-A was a special 7M-GTE with 267 PS (263 hp/196 kW), making it the fastest Japanese road car until the Nissan Skyline R32-GTR was introduced. The Turbo-A model was only produced in black, featured a grey leather interior, a larger intercooler, and used speed/density (MAP + IAT sensor) air metering."

I am understandibly curious - but how would I know.. I cannot look at an engine and tell if the turbo was different from this text..

Let's see some pics of the engine and I'll be able to tell you if it's Turbo A. Mainly looking at the intake and the back of the intake manifold for a sensor that's not on most will pretty much tell you that you've got a Turbo A.

BTW, My work comp is not showing any pics on this thread thus far, so if there are indeed pics on here, ignore my first sentence ;).

Oooooooo, Post count is 666... Shoulda done this yesterday ;).

According to Dr J's site, it will have a larger cross over pipe and no AFM (in addition to the 65mm TB)...should be pretty easy to spot looking under the hood. Plus the Mumo steering wheel ;)

turbo A's are '88 only cars... dark 89+ side trim, all of them are black w/ 89+ exterior and gunmetal sawblades... you will also see "turbo A" badging on the car... it's really very obvious whether you have one or not
