Alrighty everyone, today it is 75 degrees and low humidity. I spent about 2.5 hours tuning with the afc2 and the plxm300. I definately found out something interesting....
Our ECU is smart. The stock ecu WILL curve it's on fuel under closed loop. Now, I am sure many of you know that already, but I wish I did before I spent 1 hour tuning the low throttle to 12.5 all the way to 4K!! Sure enough, I turned the car off to get gas....turned it back on, and WHAMMY...back at 14.0-14.5 the whole drive home. I am thinking...HMM...that is weird (I checked and all of my fuel % values that I plugged in were still there)...so I test it.... I begin to change the % at idle and get it to about 12.3 and I let it sit...sure enough....after about 10 minutes into it, it had worked its way back to its 14.0-14.5 ratio on it's own. The ECU changed it back to it's on curve. SOOO...at that point, I just set all RPM A/F % to zero across the whole LOW throttle board from 1000-7600. I focused on the HIGH throttle at that point. I do believe that somewhere around 75% throttle is when the ECU goes to open loop, therefore, providing me with my window to actually tune MY values in. I did notice that under 100% throttle between 2800 and 4000 it liked to spike a little lean, so I added fuel. About 5% at 2800 and 3% at 3400. Below are the other values:
4K: -11%
4600: -12%
5200: -14%
5800: -16%
6400: -20%
7000: -20%
7600: -20%
With these values, I have consistant AF's of about 11.8-12.7 Pull after pull on the street. I have yet to get to the dyno. I am going to try and refine these even a little more, but I definately feel a nice power gain, especially between 5k and 7k. These numbers are with the mods listed below on the stock twins at 13-14psi. DAMN, i wish i wasn't so stupid about trying to tune the low throttle...oh well...this is my first real tuning experience on the afc2 and on the 1jz period.
