Mostly everyone has given up on the factory ecu re-tuning. Its something to do with the coding or something. I dont remember. Theres a write-up on it somewhere. Most just go with a piggyback such as the greddy emanage or a standalone. (aem, motec).
Stinger standalone is a cheap way to go for the mk3 and its all easily tuned and can add quite a bit of power to a stock or basically tuned MK3 look into the stinger system
Couple of folks are working on deciphering the stock TCCS system.
Just don't expect an assembler or decompiler made available with the information.

with the likes of the Megasquirt, Stinger etc Engine management systems. The need to "tweak" the stock ECU is almost pointless now a day. Save for knowing the information
