I have a 89 n/a i'm trying to quiet down. Currently it's got a 2.5 inch straight pipe with a cat on it and megan 4 inch tip. I'm going to college 2 hours away and it will be hard to do trips with how loud it is. Just looking for options or suggestions on what to do to quiet it down...

:(... look for someone with a silencer for your exhaust tip.. or have an exhaust shop put a resonator in there somewhere before the muffler

^it wasnt meant to be serious.

To make a serious contributing post to this thread read:
WHen i had my exhaut done for my old NA Two Tone it cost me $75 installed for a 2-3ft cylinder resonator/glass pack. Goto an exhaust shop and ask for a glass pack/resonator. its just a long tube that they weld in, it will restrict airflow a bit but will quiet the car down ALOT and it will smooth the tone out.

bam problem solved.

OR:
geta stock NA exhaust..

+1 All of my cars have always had an obnoxiously loud exhaust system. But my audio system more than made up for it, lol :evil2:

Just sucked when a fuse in my HU blew out and I had to make a 3hr dr listening to nothing but the drone of my exhaust :slap:

Just go to any muffler shop and spend 50bux getting a resonator put in, that should quiet it down

go for a new exhaust, if you wanna do that. the blitz nur-spec r comes with a silencer that doesn't how any loss of power on the dyno. if not, id go the resonator route.

course, you could always drive faster to get away from that sound following you...

ALL of everyone on here, except for myself must be made of money. The largest bang for your buck would be to switch to the flowmaster and a tip if you want one. Any muffler shop will do you up for less than $150. A fancy chrome tip shouldn't cost you more than 20$ and the muffler you should be able to get done really for around 120ish$.
