I recently bought a 2nd supra. That way i have my daily driver and 1 to have fun with. both are 87 turbos with targa tops. however im confused as hell on the new one. Ive got a the head/block from the gte,(assuming its a gte block b/c it has oil ports for the turbo) and its the turbo head cuz ive got cps and no distributo. but heres where im all confused, first indication was a 7mge timing belt cover, then when i went to remove my wiring harness (that had been cut, sodered, taped, etc untill it was almost unrecognisable) i noticed ive got a 7mge ECU. I bought a new (well used but good condition) 7mgte harness, but it hasnt arived yet and what i need to know is if the gte harness will plug into the ge ECU, and how will the GE ECU affect my performance? Is it safe for my motor? The mods I have done on it are 3" turbo back exhaust (no cats) greddy boost controller set for 12psi, 550cc injectors, dual 12" electric fans, and a Nitrous Express N-tercooler system. And if I am going to need a 7mgte ECU whats a resonable price, and does any1 have one they'd like to sell?

i personally dont think the the turbo harness and the na harness are the same ecu plug wise....i know the turbo has tons of different wiring...is this car running how it was with the cps and the NA harness and ecu?

in any event.... normal prices for turbo 5psd ecus are about 100 bucks.... i have a 87-88 turbo 5spd ecu for sale for that price shipped if you want it. let me know.

It was running when i bought it, but had a BHG so i tore it apart and treated it to an HKS MHG and ARP studs and noticed what shoddy shape the harness was in while doing so. so at the moment, not running, after I hooked the origional harness back in the motor cranked over, but didnt start. I had fuel going to the motor, but had a very intermitent spark, so I figure its something messed up in my harness. The damn thing was pieced to gether with duct tape, bad sodering, and random wires (lol, some were ethernet cables) I paid 200 total shipped for a new harness and a passenger side mirror. this sound like a fair price or did I get ripped off?

Hmm check the vin is it a Ma70 or 71 I think the plugs are actually the same for the ECU but I havent been able to check cause I havent got a hold of my turbo harness but from pics ive seen on ebay the ecu plugs look very a like.

Plugs on the ecu are actually the same. They will plug up, but I doubt it will even run using gte stuff with ge ecu.

a turbo wiring harness will NOT plug up to an NA ecu... you need to get an ECU off of an 87-88 turbo car... good luck with the project

Check your cam position sensor to make sure you installed it 100% properly.. it could be why it cranks over but doesnt run. Also inspect the wires near it, because sometimes they melt together.

Do yourself a favor also by finding out if your car was originally a nonturbo. Sometimes people will convert the car to a turbo using parts from a turbo car, but the one thing they probably wouldnt change is the compression. A nonturbo has higher compression in the cylinders and should not be run w/high boost. So if its a 7mge block, be careful.

I have plugged an N/A ECU into a turbo harness, the plugs are EXACTLY the same. At least on an 86.5-88. However, you will get injector pulse, but no fire with this harness plugged in that ECU.... just did it out of curiousity of course :)
