Ive been tryin to figure out why my car has been running so rich. ive checked all vacum lines, intercooler pipes, and loked pver the wiring to the AFM. replced the o2 sensor... only code i have stored is a knock sensor code. ive replaced the front knock sensor. i think i just need to ground the ks wires. but my thing is i have had a KS code for the longest time, and i know that it can cause you to run a little rich, but my A/F guage stays burried in the last block of green(rich side) and never moves out of that spot. what else could be causing the car to run that rich?? dont really have any mods that i think would make it run rich like that... mods: cooleze ic hardpipe's, cooleze hard intake pipe w/cone filter,BIC DDP bolted to a 3in catback..... im pretty sure none of that will make a car run rich! so whaddya yall think???

Having a thread titled " RICH" doesn't tell me or anyone else anything.

Now for the third time today, having to adjust a thread to make a "proper" title. If you want a serious answer or if you want anyone to look in the thread, please take the time to make a PROPER TITLE

What the hell does rich mean? Are you a rich person? (if so then great) Is your car rich at idle?
When making a thread TAKE THE TIME TO MAKE A PROPER TITLE or I will end up deleting it.

PS: I edited the title.

I like posts which supply their own answer. ;)

Start with the knock sensor then post back. Also, what wideband and gauge are you using?

knock sensor code i have had since ive owned the car... not using a wideband, and i know a/f guages are junk, but even still the car never ran rich ,and exspecially not stay burried in the rich side of the guage!

First off, NB A/F meters are unreliable. You've just admitted as much. As such, I recommend you stop relying on it. ;)

Second, if you know you've got a knock sensor problem AND you know it'll cause the car to run rich, fix it.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but if I must I will. Start with fixing the known problems then start properly testing for the cause of any other problems. Areas to check would include: temp sensor, AFM, O2 sensor, CSI and time switch, injectors, wiring, spark plugs, ignition wires, ignition coils, etc.

You mentioned looking over the AFM wires, did you actually test them or just do a visual? A visual check will only tell you one of two things:
1) There are rats living under my hood and they've eaten their way through most of the wires.
2) The wires are pretty colors and still shiny (but could still be bad).

I really don't know what else you're looking for.

you might have a bad injector. Not closing all of the way. i had this problem before with my supra and it caused it to run rich.

knock sensor and/or BOOST LEAKS

known a few people that have had boost leaks with cooleze piping, nothing wrong with the piping itself, it's just fitting it all in and making sure everything is tight.

FYI, going pig rich from any condition will foul out an O2 sensor...causing you to *guess what* run ever MORE rich!

I hate the O2 sensors on our cars, they're not cheap, and the cheaper ones don't last as long as the good OEM ones...

yeah, i changed the o2 sensor and it has zero mile on it,changed it in my driveway just to see if it changed the richness. i will tripple check my IC pipe'ing today, and report back...(o2 swensor was OEM also)

i now believe that it just may be faulty wiring with the guage. there not much smoke at all,but you can smell it running rich . also KS codes are fixed!
