I have heard on several occasions that if the waist gate sticks it blows the head gasket. is this true?

If it sticks shut then you over boost and can loose a piston headgasket and lots of other vitals

not really. just make sure that vacuum hose going to the wastegate is in good condition.

onlything i've seen the the vacume hose breaking or something.. fuel cut is your friend then...

for real. thats what fuel cut is for. Ive torn a diaphragm on a wastegate. Good thing i was running very rich.
