I just finished installing my cometic MHG, w/ ARP's, 550's, Lex AFM, and SP61GT. I cannot get the car to turn over. it sounds like its close, but then it just backfires. I am 99% possitive the timing is alright, because i made marks and never touched the crank.. only the cam gears and lined it up perfectly to my knowledge. Nothing moved timing wise. I dont know what the problem is, everything is installed correctly, except i broke a sensor off my water outlet housing (water temp?). That wouldnt have anything to do with it, would it? I also removed my AC, i get codes 12, 22, and 51.. i dont know if these are relative.. please help!

Your code 22 is most likely the sensor you broke on the water pump'

For code 12, it's probably the CPS. not the CPS itself but the wires.
Try unplugin your CPS wait a couple seconds and then replug crank it.
Try it a couple times if nessesary.I have that code and that what i do.

For Codes

you go in techtips/Supra MK3/EFI/diagnosis sytem

I await your news

here's how to properly allign the CPS. its by far the BEST way to do so, even better than the TSRM or a haynes manual. about 3/4 of the way down the page.

http://www.jblmk3.com/id92.htm

basically, check that it looks like those pics do, when your exhaust cam is at 0* (intake should be 0* too, as should the crank pulley)

Thanks for the advice, meanwhile after i made this post i went and played around with the CPS, that did the trick, the car starts and runs, but not so great. I hear hissing from the throttle body to intake manifold gasket, i need to fix that. Now all i need are a few replacement hoses and a replacement sensor..

I have a manual car.. so does anyone know whats up with code for AC?

Thanks again for the Info Shaeff! JBL has a lot more detail than the TSRM.

no problem man. the code for AC? you mean air conditioning? i assume you're talking about a code 41 if i remember correctly. if so, that would be your TPS (throttle position sensor)

hmm, yea, that makes sense to me... my SAFC usually says i'm at 0%, when i'm actually at 0%, but now.. every now and again, i'll notice it jump from 1-10% when i'm not touching the petal. I guess i need to calibrate.

Yea, cars running better, all vacume leaks fixed, everything looks great.. but it still runs like crap. When it starts, it idles at 400 rpms, and has no throttle response whatsover, what could be causing this..?!? HEELLLPP!!

plugs and wires looked good before, and my lex AFM was claimed to be "tested and working" :icon_conf

...come to think of it i do have code 31, but i've also been playing with my S-AFC a little bit. Wouldnt that cause it?

..could the TPS cause it?

and i though of something else, i blocked off the pipe from the PCV to the manifold, so fumes would only go through my catch can, would that do anything?

here are a few more options to consider.. anyone have anything?

the catch can shouldnt make a difference. no matter how much you mod the car, you're not supposed to have engine codes.

try this: unplug the TPS. if that's your problem, then the car will run a bit better, but idle at 1k rpm. give it a try and get back to us.

as for code 31= airflow meter signal. messing with the SAFC shouldnt cause that to pop up. check the AFM per the TSRM. here's the link:

okay i checked the TPS, the car ran the same. I'm having so many problems i dont know where to start. When the car is on oil is POURING out the bottom on the exhaust side, i cant tell where its comming from but it looks like its comming out of the turbo's feed line. when the cars on the exhaust comming out of the back like a dirt bike, but its very inconsistant. (for the ease of explaination, i'll describe it like its a beep) Beeeeeeeep beeep beep beeeeeeeeep beep beeeeep. Its very long, and then it has a pause. It doesnt sound like its firing off all pistons, and i can hear a knocking noise comming from the engine.
