I am on fire tonight with all the questions! :1zhelp:

Are there any tricks to pulling the water pump off? I dont want to man handle it and I am 99.9% sure I got all the bolts off, but it seems like the one stud on the lower side may have rusted up a bit. I can get it quite loose, but dont want to pry it off.

Thanks as always!

easiest thing to do is if it's a bit caked on, simply squeeze a flat screwdriver between it and the front plate, give a little twist and voila, it should sorta crack open, repeat around the sides if necessary.

Ok, so having to pry is not something surprising. I realize that a car this old has some parts that aren't going to let go, but from time to time I have to stop and wonder...

Should I really be prying at this thing?

If you've got all the bolts and nuts off, then the only thing holding it on is the gasket and/or gasket sealer. If the guy that put it on is like me, there's probably a lot of gasket sealer on it.

Around
gently tap it with a hammer. dont pry it off, you could mar the mating surface and cause leaks= future headaches. tap around the edges with 'normal' size hammer.

be carefull.... i broke my water pump trying to get it off. it was stupid.

anyway, what I would do, is NOT pry on two aluminum surfaces.

Take a rubber mallet, or if you don't have one, a block of wood with a metal hammer...

bump firmly all around the pump over and over... that should do it.

if not.... we'll think of somthing for you ;)
