I read the other thread that was about shift knobs but I came across this little gem and I think it looks great; however, I am weary of fake TRD shift knobs and was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with this particular shift knob or can guide me to finding a real one.

I would get an OEM replacement but I found out today at the dealer my particular shift knob jumped up in price, to $168 lol and nobody on Earth wants to sell their stock shift knobs with the glass cover on the gears that is in great shape.

I have a real TRD shift knob and it looks nothing like the ebay one.

I'm also keeping my eyes out for an OEM one. I can re-do the leather, so I'm not concerned about the condition of that, but it would be nice if the top still looked good. My OEM one got damaged in a break-in, and the '90 came with an aftermarket one that sucks, and I'd really rather not use it.

Yea I know about that TRD shifter but I really like the one I posted, I may buy it and type up a review thread to let you guys know if nobody else has used it before.

My OEM shifter is fine the leather is just messed up on it mostly, there is a small piece of the glass part that is a little damaged but no big deal. Only thing that bugs me is the leather coming apart.

Besides the knob linked in post #2, TRD made a round knob, part number: PTR04-00000-06.

Unfortunately the knob posted in the OP is "in between" both the TRD knobs style-wise.

This knob comes with a 5 speed pattern sticker that most people put on the console somewhere.

I thought you were referring to the leather knock off TRD shift knob.

This generic TRD knob might be a little better

PTR04-00000-05

You can find a OEM shift knob cheaper than $168, but it is still expensive...

That eBay knock-off makes me nervous where it doesn't specify a thread for the hole "Shift knob hole about 1.5cm, no need use any tools (ex: screws), just insert it."

If that's how it is, then I want no part of it.

I've got one just like that in polished black metal... I like it other than the extreme temperature ranges it can achieve... (really hot or really cold)

I dunno what the thread is on that one... BUT the one I have that is the same shape/badge (just not sandblasted) has the same thread as OE...

I recently ordered what I was told is the last genuine TRD shift knob of this style. It was at a dealership in OH. I'll know when it gets here if they got me the right one;

It'll go into a collection including the TRD oil cap, TRD radiator cap, TRD license plate and TRD fuel cap cover (yes, a cover....) - have the TRD MK4 STB too, but would much rather have the MK3 one that TRD made.
