No such thing as a TRD head. I don't care what you read elsewhere.

There was a car built for homogolation in group A. That had a more rounded, as in hemispherical, combustion chamber as opposed to a traditional pentroof. At least that is how it looks in the picutres.

TRD stuff for a mk3 is damn near non existant, I have the oil filler cap, thats about it I think they had brakes avalible and possible strut tower brace maybe some other things but IDK, as far as an engine block or head I don't think they had any

The Group-A heads are different... good luck finding one though.

If i remember correctly, Tim from Sound Performace has a TURBO A motor in his MKIII, Call him & ask him, I think he told me the ports were bigger, Not sure on it though, Give him a call.

yessir. I've never heard of TRD making a special head, especially for the 7M. As stated, you're probably talking about the Group A heads...are the Turbo A heads the same as the standard 7M head?

This is a stock head and a group a head. I am not posting the link. It has just enough info to get somebody into trouble.

The author calls the stock head a TRD head. It isn't. TRD never did that. Back in the late 80's, TRD sold parts of aftermarket companies like HKS.

I did a BHG on a turbo A and took the head in and measured it against a
91 model 7mge head(cressida grande) It was identical.Your money is much better spent on a fresh head and refitting it with whatever you feel is suitable for the type of application your engine will be used for. Most cases some smoothing of the ports and matchporting intakes is enough for the standard street build. After that its up to your bank balance.:biglaugh:

I guess both these pictures from my site. I apologize if I disinformed somebody, actually while 3 years ago I was shopping for good flowing cylinder head I contacted Jose Maeso, some of you may know this guy from Puerto Rico, he is specialist of getting unobtainable super rare 7M stuff from Japan. Jose offered me to buy used TRD head. He e-mailed me 2 photo, one posted by Nick M (combustion chamber with squish pads) and this:

Additionally he said there were only few made, head included sodium filled standard size valves, 11.5mm lift cams, shim under bucket, bigger water holes, etc.
If all this stuff was not documented now difficult to prove if there was such thing as "TRD head" and how it looked like.
As for me I later bought head ported by Revolutionary Performance and fitted it with Ferrea valvetrain parts and 272 Toda cams.

Nick: The head in the top pic doesn't quite look like a stock 7m head, either. Seems to have had quite a bit of work done to it as well? Maybe a difference between early and later model heads?

Edit: Here's a decent pic of a stock, pre89 combustion chamber:

There's a bit of a difference in the sides.

I come from a land down under
I somehow doubt the Group A head was cut from a stock casting.

The more I look, the more I see that it's a reworked stock head... Someone took a stock head and worked it as a replica of the Group-A head. Has the same mark next to the sparkplug hole on both...
