Hi Guys,

My wife and I won free airfare anywhere WestJet flies and we figured Hawaii was probably the nicest of the destinations they had to offer. If any of you have ever been to Honolulu or Maui, can you recommend any nice places to stay or interesting things to do. I search the internet but most recommendations are from travel agents who are trying to sell you on the place as opposed to sharing real experiences of going there.

Also, if you've been to both areas, which one did you prefer?

My wife is leaning towards Hawaii or the Bahamas but the Bahamas doesn't appear to have as much to do aside from lounging on the beach.

I lost out on my choice of going to Vegas :nono:

Thanks everyone!

i recently went to oahu it was amazing! do as much as you can go skydiving! i wanted to go but my friend didnt have enough money... settled for para sailing instead. scuba diving is fun, hiking... island hop only costs like 70 bucks round trip if that. also dont rent a car for the trip...i did it was a waste ended up walking everywhere just about except a few places when the car was necessary, that and the public transportation seems very efficient there.

Go to Maui they have the Hana Hwy on the north eastern shore that is a GREAT drive if you like winding roads. We stayed at the northwest shore near Lahana and rented a condo that is along the shore. There the same price as hotels but alot better cause it has all the amenities as home. If you go to Maui do the boss frog snorkel cruise they take you to a volcanic crater in the water and the view was amazing as you can see the reef which was about 100ft down and it was crystal clear. Also Mama's fish House is an AMAZING restaurant but be prepared to spend a hefty amount. That basically the highlights I spent doing when i went back in June for a week. Hope this helps

Awesome info. thanks guys. We are leaning towards Maui as most people we have talked to have said they enjoyed it a lot. I really want to see some volcanos and maybe even try surfing just to say I did it. Being a Canadian, I have never touched a surf board.

Got back from Maui on Saturday, absolutely loved it there! Lots to do, I think I saw almost the entire island.
Drove through the rainforest to Hana, visited Lahaina, Kaanapali, Wailea, body-surfed at Makena beach, went whale watching, went to a luau, maui ocean center....man so much fun to be had there.

I'm depressed to be back home. If you ever go there you gotta go for at least 10 days. I'll be back in a couple of years and maybe try Oahu or the Big Island.

sounds fun, planning to take my daughter there this summer. poor kid's been through hell with the divorce.

besides, its gonna be a big fuck-you to the ex. she always talked about going there, its never gonna happen for her.

plan on going to la, do disney, and when she thinks we are going home, hop on the plane going the "other" way! then send her mom a pic of her next to a welcome to HI sign
