Here is a pic that might help you see the difference in the 2 types at a quick look. The shifter on the R-154 is all the way back and straight, as the w-58 isn't. Just away to look quickly there are other way to tell but this one is one of the easiest i think.

Usualy it is cheaper if you could find a car that is ready for the crusher or that some one need to get rid of cheap. It isn't that hard to find a nonturbo five speed parts car that is very reasonsable that way you have everything you need.
you will need..
Bellhousing
Flywheel
clutch
pressure plate
shifter
driveshaft
brake pedal
clutch pedal
clutch slave set up
clutch lines
there a few more little things that you will need but alot of the little stuff you can make work from the auto. Also will need some new parts also.

Yeah,
Find a DOA Supra.
Most likely you will need to rebuild the clutch master & slave cylinder.
And you may need a new clutch, and have the flywheel resurfaced.

But........
You can part out the rest of the doner car to pay for these items.

Down side,
You have a POS wreck sitting in your yard until your done.
You have to ship most of what you sell off it.

Good side,
Old catilitic converters bring $75-100 at a scrap metal yard.
Most scrap yards will pay you $50 or so for what ever is left of the corpse,
and they will haul it off for free.
Many of the older NA Supras had LSDs.

And murphy's law......
As soon as you have it hauled off,
You will need something off it :naughty:

That is how it always works out, if you just sold it or got rid of it... most likely you just noticed you needed it.
