i just wanted to get an i dea on how much parts are for the whole swap. like how much money have some of you guys spent (not including labor) on this

I did all my own labor (aside from having the transmission repaired) and I spent around $1500 when all was said and done. I'm glad I took the tranny to the shop before I put it in, they charged $675 to fix the main bearing carrier plate, the 1st gear thrust washer, and all synchros. It shifts like a brand new transmission.
You probably could do it cheaper if you get a good deal on a transmission, but I'd recommend putting a new stock clutch and pressure plate at the very minimum. You should budget at least $1000 to get the swap completed.

Yeah it is hard to get one for under 1000.00 unless you can find a car local that you can just take the stuff off of. Shipping is what cost so much. Good luck
Just keep your ears to the ground. Check the forums regularly and craigslist as well. A couple of years ago I scored a R154 w/ a Spec Stage 3 Clutch along with everything I needed for the Auto-MT swap for $450 shipped off of a member on SF. I'm not saying you could score the same deal, but deals are out there. Times are a'changin :naughty:
I still say the safest bet is to take the bare minimum you think it will cost, and then double it. That's how all my projects end up turning out 
if you can find a transmission and driveshaft locally, it will be about a grand. Factor in shipping, and you are looking at about 1500-2000.

so true... perfect example, my $4500 build, has turned out to be a $4k bill for the motor alone, without a turbo :biglaugh:
id DIY. u can get the list of parts ull need off of google or most likley here on the forums. im almost positive ive seen it here before. but look for cars that are parting out.
