I bought a 1987 n/a but with a 7mgte turbo engine installed...($2,000) its an automatic. The original owner did the conversion but they left the original 4:30 rear end, will this help my auto tranny in the 1/4mile or hurt it ? I was told that it will help as long as I stick to the 1/4....I need info from you guys!!

4.30 gears are good for the 1/4

it will hurt topend though.

the higher the number of the gear... the faster it will accelerate (with proper traction)

example 3.73's have more top end then 4.30's.. but 4.30's have more acceleration than 3.73's

The 4.30s should suit you fine then. Make sure you have some good, sticky tires.
