ok... so i must be doing something wrong :icon_conf

I've connected idl and e2 on the meter to ohms and i'm trying to set it, so i turn fully clockwise it deflects (i assume this means when it goes to 1 .) so i tighten it up and when i turn the linkage fully i get no continuity let alone when i put in a thickness gauge

can anyone help pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee

thanks :D

the idl and e2 are the idel switch, it should have continuity when the linkage is at idle position.

http://www.cygnusx1.net/Supra/Library/TSRM/MK3/manual.aspx?S=FI&P=103

judging by that, if you put a .90mm feeler gauge between the throttle stop and the throttle lever, the contacts will open.

so put a.90mm feeler gauge in between the stop and lever, and adjust the TPS all the way one way until you have continuity. then turn it back the other way untill the contacts open. you want them to be JUST open at that point. tighten it down and check it again. should have no continuity at .90mm but you should have continuity at .50mm.

if that helps.

deflects is if you have an analog multimeter and as SOON as the needle moves you're where you need to be...

is it a new TPS?

it's actually for a 1uz tps & throttle body

i put in the .70mm feeler gauge, i wind it all the way back and start turning it clockwise, when it goes from 0.0* to 1 . is when i tighten it down, assuming thats what deflect meant

i'm finding that even if i put the .90mm feeler gauge in and set it so that it has no continuity just after it changes so that when i pull the feeler gauge out it should then flick back and read continuity it's still infinite/open that's whats confusing me

i tried it the other way, set it so it had continuity on the .65mm (can't remember exact number now but spec for 7m) just before it goes infinite i tighten it down and only get continuity all the way i can't get it to open

it's driving me insane lol

i tried over and over to do it via the tsrm and it just refuses to show continuity at idle (throttle shut) hence why i tried the other way just to see what results i'd get.

and no it's not a new tps

thanks for the advice :)

Are you SURE you're not doing this backwards?

a reading of 0.0 is continuity

a reading of 1 is NO continuity.

Adjust it so it just goes to 0.0, then tighten it down.

Edit: I just re-read your post with putting the feeler gauge in, and it not going back to continuity. It's a bitch, it'll do that. You are doing it correct, it's just a bitch.

May I suggest sticking the .90mm feeler gauge in there, and trying to adjust the point so it JUST loses continuity.

now that there is the money winner lol

i just did it with the .90mm and i'm getting continuity at idle and just cracked it goes infinity

i measured the vta and vc terminals and they are in much better spec than my 7m ones so that's a bonus.

So what can i expect if it's still slightly out of adjustment? just codes or awful idling etc?

it will drive a bit weird... idle weird, ect...

I'm getting bad gas milage and I'm thinking the TPS is at fault as last time I messed with it the resistances where too high... got a new one but it's a pain to mess with (gotta pull the TB)
