I searched around a little bit and couldn't find anything. If any of you guys are towing the supra around to events, shops and so-on, I'd like to know what kind of trucks you are using. I was trying to find information on towing capacity for some of the older toyota pickups, but couldnt even find that on edmunds which usually has everything.

I plan on starting a semi- "Frame-up" rebuild on the supra within this next year and need at least a reliable commuter car for work and school. Originally i was going to pick up some sort of 4-door but I figured a pickup truck might be the better idea considering im going to need to drag the supra around and haul parts(motors, fenders, hoods, wheel and bumpers... Favors... You get the idea).

So if wanted to pick up a truck for 3g's at the most(I honestly don't care if it looks like death... As long as it runs and can pull the supra on a trailor of some sort). Suggestions?

just a note, when towing a supra make sure to use a car TRAILER. IE the ones where you drive the car up onto the trailer and all 4 wheels are off the street.

Supras dont like to be towed by 2 wheels bad things "can" happen

Make sure to consider the weight of the supra AND the trailer when you look for a truck with that towing capacity.

i know a guy who trailers his 69 camero (full drag) in a 24' enclosed trailer with a '92 s-10 v-6...not for long trips though...you would never think that his truck would pull the trailer anyways...

Anybody watch TRUCKS! on powerblock where Stacey was pulling an 18 wheeler with a bulldozer on the back (the weight was like 130,000lbs or something) using an f-350 dually w/ the turbo diesel? hmmmm

any truck with a 3500lb towing capacity can tow well. I towed mine on a two and half hour drive with a tacoma, 4 banger with that 3500 lb capacity.

I would recommend getting a V6 and above sized engine.

Chevys, ford , Toyota trucks fine.

I'd prefer something where i wasnt testing the limits of the engine/brakes... It looks like i can find a pretty decent V8 silverado for under 3 grand. Yeah I'm not the type of guy thats going to drag my car around on one of those two wheel jobs. I can get access to a flatbed trailer pretty easily... Truck on the other hand....

Thanks for all the input so far. I'm open to other experiences or advice you may have to offer. What about the ford trucks?

What ever you end up with STAY AWAY from Ford F-350's. My best bud bud who has a wife and four daughters has twice now lost the brakes coming down Cajon pass from camp outs in Victorville. It seems Ford bamboozled folks about the towing capacity in the ads. if you read the fine print the only F-350 that has good towing capacity is an F-350 Dually Single cab, Everyone like my friend buys the crew cab F-350 with either a diesel or V-10 the fine print says it's brakes can barely handle a loaded truck let alone a Toybox full of dirt bikes. Even my wife mentioned one day in the desert she thought the stock tires and rims looked tiny for such a huge truck, she is right those tiny tires and wheels hide the TINY brake rotors that can't handle any load especially coming down hills in traffic.
