Too Much Timing?

Yesterday after i had a new alternator put on, i decided for the relearn process i would go aggressive. I let the car idle for 5-10 minutes or so then i pulled out and drove through a few stops signs and jumped on the express way to go to class.Well merging on i went WOT in 3rd. I cruised 80 for about 15 miles to the next exit out of county and turned around cause i was excessivly late to class.

ON the way back i noticed the car settle itself out and was idling smoother before i got back on the e-way and came home. When i finally come to a complete stop, and take off again the car seems extra peppy before 3krpm. Once i got beyond this at 100% throttle is seems much more sluggish than before especially in the "meat" of the power band.

Is it possible that the ecu learned a "too aggresive "of a map and is pulling timing up top.Im really considering resetting it again, and try a not so aggressive drive during the re-learn.Also it learned with 93 octane, i was thinking of switching to 92 for the relearn and then run 93 as i normally do.
Any insight is always appreciated as usual

Anytime you step on the throttle, short and long term fuel trim are written. Short term is just that, what you are doing right now. Long term doesnt just go away by pulling the EFI fuse.

If your car is sluggish above 3000 rpm, check to see if is boost related. Not overboost fuel cut from a loose intake, but the knock sensor detecting knock and pulling timing. Pulling ignition timing, or being too far retarded, the car will be very sluggish, as you suspect. It wont run bad, it will be very smooth, just no balls. So a batch of poor fuel could do it.

While I have seen the ACIS VSV go bad, the default position allows for high rpm torque, not low. I suppose it is possible the VSV is stuck in the applied position. I could create your driveability problem. Over advanced timing will, igntion or cam. You did move anything with the belt or distributor did you?
