so i took the car for a spin down the street. when i open up wot the exhaust backfires violently like pop pop pop pop loudly then the engine dies. i start it back up and drive it to make sure its ok. i get back on the gas and the same thing happens.

heres the set up. its a cressida with a 7mgte motor, the stock NA ecu, stock 7mgte injectors. was told theres a walbro fuel pump but i never got around to pulling the tank to verify it. i just put in new Autolite 3923 gaped to .30

i dont drive the car, i just start it up and move it around to get other cars in the garage or around the block to make sure its running ok. after a few weeks of starting the car a couple times a week. the plugs foul and i have to replace them. im on the third set of plugs. when i pull them they are black and covered in unburnt fuel.

at idle there was quite a bit of black smoke comming out of the exhaust. so this morning i removed the Jtube and it still has a little bit of black smoke but definetly less than before.

does this sound like a fuel problem since it runs rich and i dont have any means to control it? thank you

It may be because you have the n/a ecu you may want to try to get a turbo one and see if that fixs your problems.

Oh BTW are you still on the n/a electronics like the coil and afm.
