Yes folks that is correct. I have fulfilled my military obligation. I did 7 awesome years in the AIR FORCE and I'm really going to miss it. I have been to over 50 countries and made some of the best friends a person could have. I'm about to embark on new chapter in my life. This month I will be moving to North Carolina and 12DEC i start school at UTI. I'm really gunning for the BENZ ELETE program or the PORSCHE PTAP. If all that falls through; I can get a law enforcement job with ease.

Now time to grow a beard and be lazy for the next 30 days :icon_bigg

Cool shit, man. 50 countries is something else. Thanks for giving seven years of your life to help protect our freedoms.

I had a buddy that graduated UTI (Chicago) and he now works at an Audi dealer in Lafayette, IN (he's from MI). He's only 21, so he's doing pretty damn good for himself. Hopefully it will work out well for you, too.

I can't wait to get out-I've got about 10.5 months to go. I will have only been in for five years, but that's more than most first termers. I'll grow my hair long-like metal-long. Luckily I'm in the airwing and my squadron is pretty laid back on hair length. The limit is 3," but I had over 4" last winter. Nobody said anything to me, either.

Hey man.

Thanks very much for serving in the military.

Good luck at UTI, I have heard very good things about that school and program.

hell yea. thanks fellas. now i can devote more time to SM. Also 50 countries is a low estimate.. i have been to so many places i've lost track.

UTI is going to be great; the only thing that sucks is the school is 25k for 11 months of training. It will all pay off in the end. ;)

I've got 8.5 years in now, but if I make the promotion board in Dec, I'll stay for the full 20. If not, maybe UPS or FedEX are hiring! :)

August made 8 years in the Air Force for me. On November 8th I will have 1 year left. I want to stay in, but CJRs [career job reservation] are hard to get, which is forcing many people in my career field to cross-train or get out. I may cross train - there are a few jobs out there which interest me, like airborne battle management and SERE instructor. There were a few others - I need to take a trip down to the retraining office and see what they can do for me.

Good luck on the outside - getting out after being in for awhile seems like a very brave thing to do. Thanks for helping fight for freedom, and congratulations on your new freedoms. Now go grow that damn beard, or I'm writing you a LOR.

A SERE instructor, huh? So do you want to beat the shit out of people of what?

I could do it, but I wouldn't feel good about that part of the job at the end of the day. The good thing would be that you know someday, someone will use something you teach them, and it will save their life.

I started my cross-training paperwork today - first on the list was reading and confirming my eligibility as far as my job, and the job I want go. That was good. Next stop: medical. I did a class III flight physical in 1999 or 2000, which it much too long ago to count. I have to re-do it. No biggie, but it might be quite a wait. After that, it's just a little more paperwork and I'll be waiting for a class date [if other people don't get their packages in and fill the open slots for the job before I can].
