Can you check and see if you have this gap please:

This is one car (5 Spd MK3 Turbo):

This is another (5 Spd MK3 Turbo):

Everyone I've called who has one and who has checked also had this gap, but had never noticed before. It just seems a bit odd that no one really noticed until now, especially since AAP, MVP, and HPF have been selling these for years

That is not the yoke used on my CF driveline. I don't think I have anywhere near that much space/gap sticking out of the tailhousing.

If it's not leaking, and has not broken, I would not worry about it. (As long as the yoke is in past the bushing in the tailshaft, you should be fine.)

Yeah, I believe Suprasport used Jim Jobe for their supplier, but Jeff might be able to step in.

The yoke is long enough to fully engage the bushing -- I'm just baffled that it has been so long and no one has noticed...

Like I've said to you before ma71supraturbo, but I'll make it public here as well as SF. Mine has this gap; I have done many high speed runs with it, and a couple hard launches. I've had no fluid leaks or knocks or anything. Driven like this for rought 1500 miles. Not a lot I know, but so far so good.

I did notice it when I installed mine. But I only looked at it for about 10 seconds; and then didn't worry about it and never saw anything about it until now.

I come from a land down under
Jeff: The bushing inside the extension is about 2" long so no problems there but having the slip yoke so far out means not a lot of engagement of the splines and this could be a problem in high HP cars/sticky tires.

The 3/4" I mentioned earlier is used for live axle cars and could be further reduced for a Supra as the Diff doesn't move.
(You measure from the Trans Seal to the Diff flange subtract 3/4" and that's the shaft length)

Just to clarify: the splines on my driveshaft are in full contact, but the shaft is longer on the Al one than the stock one.

I've purchased 2 Aluminum Driveshafts directly from the Drive Shaft Shop. On both occasions I supplied drawings with measurements. I have full spline engagement on both cars. Both cars have been running with these driveshafts for several years with no problems. One was a Turbo 5 speed and the other is a 7MG that I Turbo'd and still utilizes a W58. The quality is outstanding. They have built enough Driveshafts to know what works and what the limitations are. In my opinion if The Driveshaft Shop is OK with it then you should be good to go with 2 inches of engagement.

I forgot to mention that both cars are modded very heavily. The 7MG conversion has a 57Trim TO4B and all the necessary supporting mods. The 7MGTE has pretty much all I could throw at it while utilizing a CT26 including HKS VPC and F-CON.

Okay, today I pulled the stock 2-piece out to replace with the Al one, and the difference from the end of the yoke to the end of the part that bolts to the rear-end between the two is about 1.25" to about 1.4" with the REPLACEMENT AL BEING THE SHORTER OF THE TWO DRIVESHAFTS. Before I bolt up the exhaust, is this a big deal or no? I am definitely thinking of a DS loop now though...

I just installed a JAWS aluminum shaft, perfect fit and comes balanced (unlike the DSS, at least their's is not claimed to arrive balanced). When i recheck the bolts at the differential tomorrow, i'll take some pics of it and post them.

My one piece looks the same(with gap) you need to replace your rear main though looks to me your going to need to worry about more then a gap.
