This makes me sad. :nono:

One responce to tell me the link was bad and nothing else. Im assuming its cause lots of people are off doing stuff today with the extra day off and might have forgotten WHY they have this day off. But taking one second to remember those who gave their lives in service of their country...any country, is not to much to ask is it? :3d_frown:

I pray for them daily, and I give thanks also on a daily basis. There's not many things sadder than Taps, or whatever that song is called.

I think that edited media has left our generation soft to the horrors of war. Some of us may never know what it was to find a reason for Nov. 11th. The wars we fight today are much, much different than they were back then.

But some things remain the same.

Courage
Honour
Sacrifice

These words are the echoes of empires. Empires founded on principles worth fighting for. Worth dieing for.

There cannot be courage in the absence of fear, nor can there be sacrifice without a cause. And honour will be earned by those who deserve it.

Ya, I agree this thread should have more posts than anything else around here today.

Nearly brings a tear to my eye thinking of the dedication and sacrifice of all those who have fought/are fighting/will fight to preserve this nation (and others).

I very sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU! from me to all those who have served or are serving our country now. I dont think we (Americans) appreciate what days like this really mean nearly enough.

I would hope that yesterday, people realized that it was a day of sadness, a day to remember those that have fallen and a day to remember why we have what we have. ::salute::

"War is an ugly thing.

But not the ugliest of things.

The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

-John Stuart Mill
