My car will be coming back to me in a few weeks and it will need to have new rubber to be roadworthy.

I haven't done any of my own research on this yet. I still have a bit of time to get things together. This is your chance to speak your mind, I'm looking for your opinions, recommendations and experiences (preferable). I am looking for "all-season" (or really no specific season, as I know that all seasons are not REALLY good at anything). The intent is that this car will be driven pretty much all year, in all types of conditions, with the exception that in extreme winter icy, snowy weather I will have the option of leaving it at home. I will generally be expecting to drive this car in dry, wet, warm, cold, frozen and snowy kinda icy weather. A lot to ask of a single tire, so I'm really looking for a good all round tire. Not really looking to be getting a dedicated set of winters for my sports car. More of a good allround tire, that won't leave me stuck when winter comes round.

My current rims are MKIV NA 16 x 8 fronts and 16 x 9 rears. My preference is for non-directional treads so that I can at least swap them across the vehicle, if that really makes a difference. Maybe you guys will say that the only way to get even wear is to flip them on the rim, so in that case direction of the tread is a non-issue.

Look forward to your feedback.

Thanks,

Buy summer tires for your Mk4 N/A wheels and proper winter tires for a set of sawblades. If you plan to keep the car for any length of time the cost difference will be negligible and the performance will be drastically improved. I live in southern Ontario and I wouldn't drive my front wheel drive beater without winter tires during the winter months. I can't even fathom Calgary winters on all seasons. lol

For summer tires I've heard good things about the BFG G-force sports and Fuzion ZRi's. I tend to buy pretty soft compound tires so I think what I run is not what you're looking for.

For winter tires I am a big fan of Michelin X-ice's. They are expensive though so I currently have a set of Dunlop Graspics and they work great too for less money.

This is a good investment in keeping you and your car safe. But the right tires.
