timing belt slipping

I found the cause of my issues. I think the timing belt is slipping. I align everything and tension up the timing belt. I start the car, it runs fine for a second, then gets progressively worse. I turn it of and check the alignment to find everything way off again.

I've redone the above many times. Is it possible that the tension components might not be functioning correct, allowing the belt to slip?

How would I fix the above problem?

Make sure your tensioner bolt is snugged down so that it cannot be moved. Also check the timing belt for any signs of wear, missing chips, scratch marks, etc. That can be indicative of the guides not working properly.

I come from a land down under
If you're bolting the tensioner down with tension on the wrong side of the belt as soon as it runs it will be loose.

Not sure if it'd be enough for it to skip a tooth but if it has the belt is trashed (I wouldn't trust it)

what is the gear ratio like?

When the crank is set to the zero position, and aligned with the cam gears at thier position marks; then the engine run; should the cam gears line up with thier marks when the crank is set again to it's 0 position?

with everything still kinda loose and the tensioner half there, spin the engine by hand once or twice. check it again.
