...would also suggest you look at or replace front main seal while you're there.

Also, like was mentioned, related seals are a good idea to replace while you're in there. No sense in doing the same job twice after finding a leak once it's all been put back together...

+1 on following tsrm, make sure not to over-tighten any of the bolts when your putting on the front lower timing cover as its rather easy strip the threads. In my experience lol.

Also consider replacing the tensioner (if its pretty old) while you're in there.

ESPECIALLY don't over tighten the tensioner pulley bolt...it will deform cylinder wall #1 and start causing all sorts of fun. And by fun, I mean anguish. And by anguish, I mean death (of internals). Just don't over tighten it.

Yeah, should have underlined that, follow the TSRM to the letter, especially the idler pulley torque spec.

If you pull the lower timing gear off (as you might have to replace it if the guides have fallen off), you're disturbing the front main seal and it definately has to be replaced.
