5w-30 or 0w-30...

See if that helps, if not, then adjust your shims (might have to get new shims).
i tryd 5w30 didn't really help how do i got about checking to see if it is the shims and how hard is it to adjust them i am :runaway::runaway::runaway:decent with a wrench just to be honest i know nothing about this motor

Have to measure clearances before you remove the cams though. Also, if you DO remove the cams you must loosen and tighten in an exact sequence (it's in the TSRM, that link I gave is an online version)

put a screw driver tip on various parts of the engine when its running and put the other side to your ear and find out.

Also keep in mind that unlike most '86+ cars, the Supra has solid valve lifters, not hydraulic, so with the air gap required to allow expansion of the various parts, there will be some ticking noise. They have a 60,000 mile check interval, if the car has no service history I'd check them just in case, a tight valve will burn up :aigo: I was quoted $600 for the complete job at my local Toyota dealer, FYI
dam well from what i understand i should shim it and call it a day i love this car so much its gonna be a good time i got to drive it in the snow lastnight it was ok till out of nowhere 5 iches came down :kickinthenuts:

You can get the shims from a dealer or go to a junk yard and pull several as the dealer told me that most toyotas use the same shim. Also I bought a special tool and redid all mine with out taking out the cam. The tool makes it so much easier. If I wasn't deployed I would sell mine to someone who needed it. I think I bought it for like $25.
