ok i have like a ticking or clicking sound..its not loud, i know its not a rod knock. the ticking gets faster when engine is reved. don't know what it is..any suggestions?

ok ive searched..im thinking its the valve clearance..pretty sure..i 4got already..i gotta go back and search again..but thats my guess..just one question..is that a major problem? cause people on this forum say its common..just want to make sure
After I repaired rodknock I can hear this ticking now too. I guess the knock overpowered it before. My buddies new 7m has it as well, so its probably pretty common.
Just stick your head next to the cylinder head, you will defintely be able to tell if its coming from valve lash. Re-doing the clearances is time consuming but not too hard. There was a guide somewhere on how to do it without removing the cams.

Yeah I was surprised too, 500 mile engine still has valvetrain noise. Of course the rest of it is dead silent.

Ive just recently discovered it. Hopefully over my spring break I can apply the stuff ive gathered from SupraCentrals write up on diagnosing rod knock.
injectors tickin (common noise) leaking exhaust? leaking exhaust mannifold gasket? maybe your valve shims need checking.
just sounds like a valve tap from what your telling me.Not a real big problem but i would take care of it a.s.a.p.
ok nevermind its not that valve taping thing..i know for a fact its coming from where the injectors are..can you fix that in anyway?
mine started knocking simply due to wear. it wasn't contamination of the oil through water, or debris. sometimes its just time, and therefore your stuff should be salvageable. just use your shit.
I was told it was the exhaust, the valves, and even the cams acting up. Here's the deal, it was neither.. rod knock. Rod knock before it actually becomes a "knocking" sound is a tick. A tick is the first step until it devlops into a much louder knock.
Mine has been diagnosed as a rod knocking when all it is, is a slight tick. Dont be fooled by the usual.. "its your loose manifold" , or " your valves are ticking refer to your TSRM" . You'll be lucky if its any of those.
