Throttle Bodies

How many different types of throttle bodies are there??

I have one on my car and I thought the rest were like it... I got one from my buddy who is parting out an 89 Turbo Auto (Mine's an 89 Originally NA, Manual) and it is totally different.

I didn't grab the throttle linkage and shit from him but it looks like I need it...

So what's the deal? Sounds like a problem (not really a problem) for Jeff Lange

From what I know... there are only 2 TB's. A turbo and an NA

I bet the linkage between a automatic and manual is different.(missing the kickdown cable spot)

Well the TB i have on there now is a turbo one and totally different from this turbo one I have on my desk.

Shit, I bet you're right about the kick down cable. There's a spot for a cable directly on the TB but it actuates backwards compared to the throttle rod... Hm...

Maybe the difference is 88 and 89? I don't know what year the TB i have came from....

That's correct...autos have a provision for the throttle position cable going to the tranny. There is also differences in the JDM vs USDM versions due to the right hand drive in Japan. I've seen at least 4 versions of the linkage on the throttle body itself.

No biggie though...just use yours, it will bolt right up.

I'll post up pics tonight when I get home, but there is an early version with a throttle bypass screw thing... and the newer version.

BUT - it may be auto vs manual, as the one I have that is different, is off a manual - and it is different than the auto one on my car now.

could the oler style throttle bodies with the bypass screw be replaced with the newer style ones without the bypass screw?
