Thoughts on why my clutch died after 8k miles

Installed a Spec st.2 kit. Broke it in for 700 miles...no boost. After break in clutch held awesome, street racing, top end runs, 4 runs at the track never slipped once. AFM went bad and the car sat for 2 weeks while I waited for the new afm. Started her up and the car would not move under its own power. Clutch did not engage AT ALL. Shimmed the slave cylinder and clutch held fine. Replaced the master and slave, removed the shims, still not engaging. Right now the pushrod on the slave has had about 3/4 cut off of it to help the clutch engage more. Recently started slipping again.

Thoughts?

I'm thinking a bad PP.

I replaced the rear main when I put this clutch in. Pretty confident that its not that.

Yours is slipping now too? You have less miles than I do dont you?

Maybe Spec just had a bunch of bum PPs.

Well hopefully I will have a lift by next Friday... 'til then very little boosting :(

Man, I hope my stage 2 doesn't do this; I have no sign of it yet but I only have roughly 500 miles on it so far.

i have like 800ish miles on mine. it only slipped alittle when boost hit, enough for a mechanic not to notice(nevermind he was an idiot, staled it about 3 times). now that i have my bic dp it will slip from 3000 to 5500 when boost hits in third. but i didnt replace my rear main when i did it. really regretting that.

On a somewhat related topic: I have a spec stage 1 and the PP came from them warped, so now i have a high spot on the PP along with some clutch chatter.

I am begining to think that Spec is garbage.

They have so much good reputation tho I find it hard to believe that a couple people in this thread make the norm for thousands or installations.

Ive heard that same story time and time again when it comes to spec clutches over on the dsm boards. They all tend to end up slipping within a few thousand miles. Maybe they work well in supras, but I can tell you Ill never put one in my car after some of the horror stories Ive heard.

Warped on delivery, sounds fishy. SPEC is supposed to have a good rep though.

SP Engineering > SPEC

I thought they would have a good rep too after the research I did before buying. However, I tore down the tranny and clutch after only 500 miles and had my brand new flywheel machined to be sure that it wasn't the problem.

I still have some chatter. Must be the PP.
