ok, so the other day im at the shop woring on a vet and kinda noticedthat it was a targa. then i looked over at the supra that was sitting over in another bay and noticed that the shape of both tops were very very simmilar.

then a idea poped into my head, what it one was to find a glass targa top from a vet and bolt it to a mk 3 supra????

bolts seem to be in the same place and then you get a nice trick glass top!!!

it was just a thought that id share here and see if anyone else thought that it might be cool. i think it would be kinda neat to do.

I have thought about the same thing!!!! It would be one of those aftermarket things that does not exist and would need to be created. The problem is getting a company to make that sort of thing in quantities for a 15 year old car.

like i said, i thought it was kinda a neat idea. and it does apear to be some heavy duty glass that is safety tinted. remeber, its a stock item on a vet. and you dont hear vet guys complaining about heat and sunburn.

i know someone personaly that has one. maybe one day ill have to go to his house with a couple of beers and convince him to let me see if it fits......

It was a stock item? Hmmm....well, then it would've had to meet safety regulations. It still has gotta be hot as hell in there after being parked in the sun, and you would have your a/c working double-over-time in the summer, but maybe it is feasable. It definately sounds cool enough.

There are plenty of cars with glass roofs, and plenty of stock and aftermarket glass moonroofs. Most of them are tinted and don't let too much sun in, but generally speaking usually any stock glass roof will have a cover that you can clip in to prevent sun from getting in.

WOW! It is like stepping into a timewarp.

WAY back in the day - before many of you even owned a Supra. I was working on getting this made. I had made contact with the company that made the custom aero-top for the Del Sol - similar to the Vette top. We had gotten exploded drawings for them to look at and they were going to take the next step to see how feesable it was. All we needed was for someone in their area to pay them a visit and show them how everything worked.

We'll just say that the people we had lined up never went over there so this project pretty much died.
