For those that have broke a thrust washer and pulled the trans apart. Was the clearance obvious or did you have to pull the output shaft out and disassemble it to find out? I have it apart but don't think that it is my problem and don't want to pull the whole thing apart if I don''t have to.
I did have a loose bolt on the 1st shift rail, rubbing the case. I hope that's the only reason why it was hard to shift 1st to second under load. I have had it pop out of first a few times, second once though.
