It's a 1987 Toyota Supra

It has 153857 original miles.
7MGE
W58
Cruise Control
Automatic Air Control
Power Windows
Power Locks
Fog Lights

I am finding more about this one as i play with it :D
The engine was running fine and my buddy i got it from daily drove it. he sold it to a kid and he blew the HG and sold it back to my buddy. He then took it to a shop and had the block and head cleaned up and what not, they ended up charging him twice the amount he was quoted. He refused to pay and took the car home and the shop kept the head.
From what i can see and gather... a new OEM Head is gonna run around $500-600 bucks and I have been searching and finding JDM Import low mileage engines for a just a tad more... so thats my move.

It pretty much needs a front clip

The hood, headlight buckets, bumper, fenders and lights are all dented and messed.
*Fixed as of 1/19/2010

The front bumper is getting replaced
The running lights and turns are getting new smoked out lenses

If i watch where i buy this stuff from, i can keep the price down pretty easy.
My buddy and I have been searching for stuff and have found things I like already.

I can tell by just looking at the interior and how its set up, that it was a well thought out and designed sports car back in the day and they did not leave out anything.

I will have all the little bugs worked out. and replace what needs replacing
Before any "visual modifications" go on, normal maintainance is obviously top priority.
That being said... if its a normal maintainance item that needs replaced and i already planned on "upgrading" it, then it will be upgraded will i have it "down".

It needs:

JDM Import 7MGE
Front Nose
Upper Nose Lip
Turn Signals & Running Lights

and other little stuff I am sure to get it back to commision
But here is what I want to do to it before summer hits.

JDM Import 7MGE Engine
Vented&Slotted Rotors
Stainless Steel Brakelines
Ram Air Intake
18x7.5 w/ 225/40ZR18s
2.5in Catback
Interior Cleaning
Cut Springs (lower it some)
CA Bushings
Ball Joints
Stereo System
Stage 1 Jet Black Paint
Smoked Out JDM Lenses

and I am sure other little stuff will come up.

I do not want to make a race car out of it nor do i want to make it ridiculously fast.

I want a nice performing, and looking Supra
that will last me a while.
It needs to be a good Daily Driver and have no problems... I have enough of those with my Crawler which is why i am making a new DD.
Anyways enough of the rambling, if you want any pics or have anything to add or anything... let me know.
The direction of my Supra is pretty set for now.

Enjoy my new toy.

I've done several "frame-ups" this will be cake walk. And worth the work in the end.

Now what is the best Metal HG to buy for the buck? PN's would be helpful as well if anyone has any as most I am finding are for the 7MGTE (I don't know if that works for the N/A engines)

Hunting was tiring and fun, but haven't got anything, I have til December 1st til the season is over though.

Also, I kind of want to keep most of the interior stock... just cause to me, Toyota did a FABULOUS job on the design and the look of a "Toyota Muscle Car" interior is BA in my eyes... so that all will stay stock for the most part. I am getting the other Stock BLUE seat and I have the E-Brake Boot.

Anyone who has or knows a good place to get the following for a super decent price, let me know.

Upper Nose Lip
Evo Body Kit
Smoked Out JDM Lenses
"Red" Center Brakelight
OEM Spolier
Front Fenders (stock or not)
Radio Mounting Brackets

Yes the most expensive part will be the 1jz bell housing.

Otherwise the 2jzge is pretty commonly had for $250-$500 and is good for plenty of power later on.

Driftmotion sells those, I was on there site early this morning. any info on some 2JZGE's would be awesome. i'd swap mine to that if I could find one and have the swap stay right about $800, as I was planning on dropping the money tax time on a 47k miles JDM JMGE imported from Japan from a place in British Columbia. I am interested in the 2JZ, just have to keep this on somewhat of a budget.

Got a link man?

& oh yeah this should be fun and not too hard.
Much easier then I am used to.

I built an 85 4Runner from a shell and frame for $500 bucks and sold it for $3000. had full 22RTE Turbo SR5 Interior, Marlin Crawler suspension, rebuilt W56 Trans and low mileage 22RE, did all the wiring myself and what have you. Now I am no expert but I am not new to it is all. I got some swaps under my belt. I fully swapped my 90 4Runner from Auto to 5Speed, using a full 91 4Runner Engine & Dash Harness, Dash, Pedals and Trans/Tcase.

Well I sold the 3.0 3VZ V6 out of my 90 4Runner im parting out and I am pulling it this week for the guy i sold it to to help fund the Supra...

While i have the cherry picker over I am going to pull the 7MGE Block from the Supra as well.

I have never pulled one, so I have no idea what all needs to be undone and where the bolts on these things are.
Online FSM Link?
Chiltons?
Haynes?

Whats my best bet...

Any advice will be helpful asap!

Alright got the 7MGE pulled out tonight.
I am going to pull all the crap out of the engine bay I can.... steam clean it, sand it down.... primer it and get some good coats of gloss black paint on it.
anything i took out, will be cleaned and painted.
I thought about painting the Valve Covers black with blue accents.
maybe the brake booster in blue and some other things as well.

I use a Sail/Coral Blue.

Anyways my Digital stopped working again.... so i got a crappy pic with my phone.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

I also need to pull the fenders off, front nose off, headlight buckets, etc.... and get it all stripped down in front and paint it.
And get what wiring up front was ghettorized and get it all fixed.
Enjoy guys!! :icon_bigg

Well I got some huge news (to me anyways)

I picked up the fenders, header panel and headlight assemblies
I got 2 87 Canadian Market Burghandy Fenders, Canadian Market Burghandy Header Panel (for you keen eyes, only CAN markets had the headlight squirters) & Both 87 White Headlight Assemblies.

All in very good Condition.

I talked to this guy a while!!
He has 3 MKII (one having a 8in 5lug Solid toy rear, 7MGTE with NOS, Auto, Caged) and 2 MKIII's as well as two mini trucks

Anyways that being said the white supra i got the headlight deals from..... is sitting on the side of his shop, it had a 1J swapped into at one point, before it was wrecked and pulled. so besides the engine, trans, and front clip gone... it is in PERFECT condition and has the same color interior... has a deck wing, really good pre-89 tails (i may use them), rear bumper is excellent! all the trim. He told me if i came and removed the car for him... i could have it for $100
So needless to say, that white car is SOLDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!! I will also be getting the Can Market Burghandy Hood. So when I am done this car will have all straight panels to work from.

So my car will have some nice ass parts :beerchug:

Enjoy the pics. this thing will see paint in a few months
I have 3 paints im considering:

DEEP Midnight Blue
Jet Black
Darl Gunmetal

Poll Added
