Ultram aka Tramadol, is some real good shit, but it can also be some bad shit. Be carefule with it.
Why are in you pain DT, if you don't mind me asking? Hope everything is ok.

I've got wicked horrible endometriosis to the point where I can't go a day without taking advil for it. Some days are so bad they warrent taking a serious painkiller, and ultram is what my doctor gave me.

Mike and I read up about the good shit and bad shit. Like - DO NOT CRUSH PILL AND INHALE POWDER or you'll DIE! sort of stuff.

I've got surgery to remove the offending endometriosis scheduled for mid-January. I've never been so excited for a surgery.

*sigh*

That's one reason I miss the Air Force. I went in with a toothache and came out with percocet and the other time vikatan. High as a kite because of a toothache..gotta love it.

That sucks.

GL w/ tolerating the pain and I hope the surgery goes well.

Thanks.
Some days are better than others.

Although the more time wears on, I have less "better" days (and Mike can attest to that. sometimes I'm downright miserable). But at least my gyno gives me great drugs.

I was told the surgery likely would be and hour or less. Hopefully no more than 90 minutes. I don't have to stay overnight in the hospital, thank goodness.

It's when the uterine lining gets outside the uterus and starts spreading and covering everything that it gets in contact with. I'm not sure what causes the pain, but obviously it does. That's all I know. Oh, and it can effect fertility. Thats all i know, SERIOUSLY

Atleast it's something that's relatively common, not life-threatening, and relatively treatable.

Sorry to hear about that... Why do you have to wait till january for the operation? If you are in so much pain why not do it sooner? I take vicodin for a bulging disc and get injections in the back of my head, it can give me headaches that make me want to die...

Good luck with the operation

The uterus lining is....active during the menstral cycle, so having that tissue anywhere else causes tons of pain...

Even worse, is it seems like she has a meaner case of it where the pain happens outside of the normal cycle...

Being a guy I can't really fully understand the pain of such a cycle, but I sure as hell know that having pain like that ALL THE TIME would be unbearable.

Hope the surgery goes well.

Dag @ JM...that doesn't sound good at all. All I know is when something finally happens with me, I'm raising hell to get something done about it. I don't have blue cross/blue shield for nothing..lol.

But Ms. T., everything will be ok...got prayer going up for ya. :D

Because this is money-making time where I work, and at the time of scheduling, I didn't realize that I had paid sick leave. I was basically waiting to save up money since I'd be out of work for a week.

At this point, the surgery is only a month and a half away. :: shrug ::

And for those curious about the wild, wacky world of endometriosis:

Ohh.. I see. well good luck with it. So I read the site a bit, will this fix the problem? Or is it more a treatment?

Keep us up to date on your progress..

It's a treatment. There is no cure. I'll be having the offending tissue removed and then going through six months (I think it's six months, I can't remember) of hormone shots to try to slow the tissue from growing back.

This may be the only surgery I need. One can hope.

But the stuff may always continue to grow back, and I'll need to be cut open every few years and have it removed again.

...I'm hoping they take pictures or video or something. :)

Ah, Tramadol is what my BFs husky was perscribed for pain after they "couldn't figure out what was wrong with her". She did very well for the 1st couple days then it seemed that the medicine wasn't working anymore. Not long after he put her down.

Not that I think anyone will be putting you down Theresa, LOL, but I hope the pain meds keep doing their job for you. Good luck :)

OK . . I dont know about pictures or video, but if you post it i won't be able to not look! :biglaugh: I am thinking we would not know what we are looking at.
If they do it laproscopicly then there will be video, They did my surgery that way and video taped it.. I could have gotten a DVD , but I was in too much pain in recovery to remember to ask. If it can be done that way make sure they do it.. the recovery time is cut in 1/2 ! ALOT less pain for U!

Ahh, I know that illness as one of my ex-gfs had it.
GL with going under the knife, and hopefully this will take care of the problem for many years to come.

BTW, not to pry or anything, but did you try the BC that skips one cycle. My ex had one period every 2 months, and it seemed to be better for her.
