While inspecting the engine, they found major signs of detonation and basically a borked engine- piston wall scoring, etc

I'm hoping that I can get the engine replaced under warranty from the importer, if not I'm going to rebuild, but that puts a serious damper on a lot of things for me

Quick question- how much does a "typical" rebuild cost anway

I thought you were the thread starter lol.

Either way back on topic see if your able to get the importer to warranty it, which may be a major pain seeing that you already opened the bottom end.

If you can't warranty it I'm gonna have to second rocksdasox its a painful process but so worth it in the end.

Is it a 1j?

Isn't the engine guaranteed? Don't they offer something? How much did you pay for a blown engine?

they have a warranty- 30 days from date of purchase. I purchased in mid June

I paid 1500 for the blown engine and transmission
