This is from a car club site, and the story goes like this:

Well, I was on my way home from grocery shopping today, stopped at clarence and ruth facing southbound on clarence, aboutt o make a right onto ruth. To my left was a green jeep who stopped before me and started proceeding through the intersection west on ruth. Heading northbound on clarence was our favorite riced out silver sunfire, engine wining speeding up to about 120km/h. Hardcore didn't start braking until about 15feet before the stop sign, which meant that he barely swerved around the green jeep, headed straight for me, and barely spun around my SUV. The blue BMW SUV behind me wasn't so lucky(it ws a parked vehicle), and it, along with a tree (no longer there) absorbed the brunt of the force of that 120km/h sunfire. "

4) wicked ass body kit (+15 style points)
5) Decals (+15hp)
6) rear window louvers (+10hp AAAAND 10 style points :bowdown
7) spoiler (no horsepower but it gets way more downforce)

so that thing must have had like 400hp

edit: it looks like the bmw hit him pretty hard while he was going real fast hitting vtac and spun out and tried to do made drifto action to try to save him self, but he failed and died.

Id put money on the fire department opening it and cutting the power from the battery, thats what they did to me and my windows were down, and it was raining

the answer is quite obviously the added power from the electric supercharger allowed him to.
